Big game hunter

Don’t worry, I won’t always be so cloyingly clever with my post titles, I just couldn’t resist. Where do I turn for those times when I won’t be satisfied to watch the game in the quiet of home and just need to be around other fans to get the most out of my Sunday viewing? Even though I love my local English pub & frequently enjoy checking out new places, I’ll always return to the first bar I ever went to in Sacramento, the Raven, when it comes to the Super Bowl. It’s a good local crowd, and many people bring food to share. It’s just a fun group that mixes the right amount of taking-it-seriously and joking around. Yelling at the players and chatting with friends. Am I alone in wanting a measure of familiarity, and a tolerable noise level? I’m a football fan, but my team isn’t in the game. I’d like the Cardinals to win, not only because I always pick the underdog, but also because Kurt Warner is so darn cute. Oh, and their whole offense is fantastic. I am mildly concerned that they may be crushed tomorrow, but hey, their last playoff game was a surprise, with some key interceptions, and other random happenings that kept me wondering. My hope is that it’s a good game, that keeps us watching tomorrow. Here is an incomplete list of places that would be fun to go & watch tomorrow: MVP’s, the Limelight, possibly Golden Bear or Sweetwater, I am not such a fan of Hooter’s or Mandango’s, but if you’re in Roseville you can be sure Bunz & Co. will have a great football crowd (we’ve gone there some years & had fun — be sure to get a Bloody Mary, theirs are the best!), and I’m sure Chargin’s will be fun, but I’ve never really watched a big game there. The worst place will probably be my beloved Bonn Lair (happy 15th anniversary, folks). Bless them, they’ll probably have hockey on until someone wanders in wondering what the score is. They’ll check the score, but change it back once the person goes to the bathroom. They’re not bad people, just really intense Anglophiles; people who were born here, but insist on calling soccer football. Anyway, this is my first post here, so I wonder what the view/response rate will be. To find out, I pose this question: Where ya watchin’ the big game?
